National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) began in 1989, by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association. NIAW raises awareness about infertility and encourages women and men to be proactive about understanding their reproductive health.
It’s more common than you’d think. One in 8 couples have trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy (2006-2010 National Survey of Family Growth, CDC) and Oregon Reproductive Medicine is passionate about continuing the conversation about fertility health and providing resources, support, and tools to help individuals and couples who are trying to conceive or might want to in the future.
Our mantra for the week (and every day) is “Be Brave.” It’s OK to start asking questions and learning about your family-growing potential. We are here to provide you with personalized care and the resources and support you need.
While just one week is dedicated to this disease, together we can keep talking about infertility and empower each other throughout the year. Share your personal story, connect with others and remember you’re not alone.
