is what sets us apart.
What is Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)?
With intrauterine insemination (also referred to as artificial insemination), specially prepared sperm is placed directly into a woman’s uterus around the time of ovulation. By eliminating the path that sperm would normally take to the uterus, there is a better chance that more sperm will make their way to the egg and pregnancy will occur.
Selecting a sperm donor:
Donor sperm is purchased through a sperm bank and shipped directly to ORM. Selecting a donor can take anywhere from a few weeks to months, so we encourage you to begin the process early on.
Using a known sperm donor:
We are very happy to work with known sperm donors. Due to FDA requirements and clinic policies it will take longer to have this donor sperm available than if purchasing from a sperm bank.)
IUI vs. IVF
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a simple procedure that places sperm in the reproductive tract. In vitro fertilization (IVF) combines the sperm and egg (making an embryo), and the embryo is replaced in the uterus for implantation. Unsuccessful IUI does not give the patient a poorer prognosis for IVF to succeed. Learn more about IUI medications.
