LGBTQ Biological Parenting

For Women & Same-Sex Female Couples

Female couples will decide which partner will carry the pregnancy and select a sperm donor, while a single woman will only need to select a sperm donor. If repeated attempts with IUI do not result in pregnancy, further options may include the use of fertility drugs with IUI, or IVF treatment.

For Men & Same-Sex Male Couples

Egg Donation, Surrogacy and IVF

Men wishing to build a family will use both an egg donor and a gestational surrogate, as well as in vitro fertilization (IVF). Gay couples will decide which partner will use his sperm to undergo routine sperm testing, while a single man will use his own sperm. Even if a male fertility issue is discovered, the sperm can often be used successfully.
