Andrea and Liz met through mutual friends in 2010 and hit it off right away. They got married and began to expand their family. Through a clinic in Phoenix, Arizona they had their son through intrauterine insemination (IUI). Nine months after having their son, they decided to continue to grow their family and found Oregon Reproductive Medicine. They wanted to tie their whole family together and met with Dr. Barbieri regarding reciprocal in vitro fertilization (IVF).
“When we went in there, [Dr. Barbieri] explained it in such a simple way and made us feel so comfortable that all my questions had been answered and even if I had any additional questions I felt very welcomed like it would be easy to reach back out to them.”
Liz underwent an egg retrieval and embryos were created using the same sperm donor that they used for their son. Andrea carried the pregnancy, and they welcomed their daughter, Ophelia, into the world in February 2017.
